Portfolio of Works

Portrait painting is a challenge and a joy.  My goal is to capture the vitality of the subject in formal or informal poses.  Experience painting from life is vital for successful outcomes.  For information on commissioning a painting click here, or call 215-340-0842.

Drawing on the chiaroscuro style of the old Dutch masters, my still life work uses light to create focus and form.  Featured objects often have a familial or historical meaning for me or for those who have commissioned a painting.

Landscapes provide a chance for more spontaneity since they do not require the same level of faithfulness to the subject as portraits and still lifes.   And when done en plein air, lighting changes rapidly.  The challenge is simplifying complex vistas to create a focused impression.

Our favorite animals are a big part of our lives.  Like people, animals have personalities and beauty that can be captured in a special portrait.  They can be painted with their owners or by themselves.

There is nothing more elegant than the human body.  To draw and paint it with fluidity, accuracy and grace is an endless challenge and the pinnacle of artistic endeavors.
